The tumultuous political climate this past year has a lot of women wondering what it means to be an American. Some may think it’s an important thing to value. Some may think it’s not something to be proud of.
I think that relating the personification of our nation to very specific events, nuances, and ideologies is making things more complicated than they need to be. I prefer to think of being an American in broader strokes and ideas, and therefore being able to encompass all.
I just jotted down a few words that relate to what I think it means to be an American woman below.*
*To be clear, I am not trying to make any statements in regards to anything going on with politics, news, whatever. These words are agnostic to current events.
