I’m getting my summer dresses some wear through the winter with a little thoughtful layering. I also thought shooting outside of Ember’s Ski Lodge in 12South, with its cozy dive-bar meets vintage après vibe, would accurately convey that this was intended to be a colder weather look. When Hannah and I shot this one, it was 25 degrees outside, so a bit colder than I intended.

With the athletic branding, gingham, and Doc Martens, this look is a little more normcore than my norm. But I was alive in the 90s (I was 7 years old when the ball dropped to the year 2000), so it’s not TOO poserish, right?

All self-doubt aside, I really do love the revival of the coolth of 90’s fashion, particularly the use of classic athletic brands in everyday wear outside the gym (now referred to as ‘athleisure’). It’s also interesting to see top brand names embrace the aesthetic and further drive home the idea that fashion can be functional. When HVN did a collaboration with Champion, I had to hop on that train immediately to be able to afford one of her patterns represented on a more casual textile (read my post about it).

Browsing online retailers yields pieces like this at either end of the budget spectrum, with few options in the middle. See below for my picks – links to shop each item are below the image.

Logomania has certainly made a comeback, and I’m here for it. Is it materialistic, or nostalgic? A little bit of both, I think.
