It’s about that time of year where the air is so thick & humid in the South you can practically drink it. Most days when I’m not protected by the frigid AC at work, I’ll spend half submerged in a body of water (pool or lake) with a can of spiked seltzer in my hand. Southern families are flocking to the beach for summer vacation, or taking a break from the heat and heading to cooler ‘hotspots’ like Nova Scotia and Iceland. I was just in New York and will be heading back up to Nantucket next week, so I’m trying to break up the heat where I can.
That all being said, the intense heat does allow for some pretty awesome nature. All of the blooms in Germantown, particularly the hydrangeas and crepe myrtles, have exploded in vibrant, fluffy color. The thunderstorms are super intense (and maybe a bit scary when the wind picks up). The sunsets are spectacular.
Wearing all-white is my go-to warm weather look. My white jeans are from Levi’s and they are aptly named the “mom jeans” for their roomy silhouette (it’s crazy that this used to be the butt of the joke but now are back in style). The distressing on the front makes them a little more modern. My Rolling Stones t-shirt is an original from their 1989 American Tour borrowed from a friend who is an expert vintage concert tee curator, and my Hermès Oran sandals are hand-me-downs from my mom, which makes me less of a stylish girl and more of a lucky girl.
